FOIA – Freedom of Information Act Request
The Champaign Police Department provides access to public records in accordance with the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (5 ILCS 140). Under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), residents are entitled to review and obtain copies of records, unless there is an exemption in the statute that protects those records from disclosure.
Through the City’s online FOIA Portal, individuals may make a FOIA request to the Police Department to receive copies of accident reports, police reports, and other records requests. You may also submit a FOIA request for dispatch tickets from METCAD 9-1-1 through the FOIA Portal.
