BEST Security Training

BEST (Bar Employee Security Training) is a free, mandatory security training provided to all liquor establishments in Champaign.

BEST trains management personnel and security personnel on how to properly address excessive drinking, disorderly patrons, and offers strategies for effective group communication between employees. The training must be completed by all liquor establishment management and security personnel within 60 days of the date of employment. A three-year certification is awarded upon successful completion of the class. Please note: This course is for bar servers and security, and does not meet any criteria for private security licensing.

Classes are held at the Champaign Police Department on select days throughout the year. A full list of 2024 training dates is included in the form below. Participants may register for only one BEST class at a time.

Registration is accepted up to three business days prior to the class date, and cancellations may be made up to seven business days prior to the date of class. Failure to attend the same class twice will require employer authorization in order to re-register. To register, please fill out the form below.
