Crime Data
The Champaign Police Department offers an online crime map through Tyler Citizen Connect in coordination with law enforcement from across Champaign County. This map lets the public see crime activity from the past sixty days. It shows data at the block level, promoting transparency and teamwork between police and the community on safety issues.
The data on the mapping tool comes from original crime reports entered in the last sixty days. Reports are updated daily and follow the FBI’s NIBRS coding system.
Using the mapping tool, the community can view reported crimes and sign up for alerts.
Please keep these limitations in mind when using the tool:
-
The numbers displayed are not for official reporting. Data can change as investigations progress.
-
Information is based on preliminary reports and includes report number, crime type, incident date and time, location rounded to the block level, and investigating agency.
-
Data does not cover general service calls or police activity without a crime report.
-
Searches can cover up to sixty days of data by address, crime type, and date.
-
Some unique case types may be withheld to protect victims’ rights.
