SeeClickFix

The City of Champaign Public Works Department is implementing new technology that will allow residents to submit requests for service through a mobile interface while they are out and about in the community. Powered by SeeClickFix, the place-based reporting platform allows residents to document problems ranging from graffiti to potholes within the City’s boundaries.

SeeClickFix allows citizens to report and monitor non-emergency issues. Requests reported through SeeClickFix can provide location, descriptive, and photographic information regarding the problems. Once the issue is documented with SeeClickFix, the reporting citizen, the Public Works Department, and anyone “watching” the area will receive a notification. The service request will be automatically forwarded and entered into the Public Works Department’s work order system. It will be routed to the appropriate Public Works section for response. Once the situation is resolved, the status will be updated and posted on SeeClickFix. Staff will monitor SeeClickFix service requests during normal business hours, which are 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The application is free to the public. On mobile devices, SeeClickFix can be downloaded through the App Store on iPhones and Google Play on Android phones. In order to open an account, a person will need to provide a valid email address and set up a username and password. For those without smartphones, the application is also available online.

More information is available at SeeClickFix. For detailed instructions of how to use the application, see our guide, Using SeeClickFix.

Potholes are generally caused by moisture, freeze-thaw action, traffic, poor base support, or some combination of these factors. The City of Champaign makes every effort to patch potholes within two business days of a pothole repair request. Timely pothole patching is influenced by many factors such as knowing it exists, the level of traffic, and the availability of personnel, equipment, and materials. Snow and ice removal or other emergency situations would take precedence over pothole patching.

The City encourages citizens to report potholes to the Operations Division at 217-403-4700, between 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Please provide City staff with your name, address, telephone number, location of pothole, and as much detailed information as possible. This information is very helpful to staff trying to respond to your request. After business hours, on weekends, or holidays, you will receive a pre-recorded message with general instructions and emergency information. Please leave detailed information to ensure prompt response.
