Parking Permits Now Available for Purchase

Purchase a new 2020-2021 Academic Year Permit

  • Use this link, Online Parking Services, to purchase an Academic Year Permit for the 2020-2021 Academic Year.
  • Make sure to attach the required documentation, including proof of residency if purchasing a permit in Area 1 or Area 2.
  • Permit holders in Area 1 and Area 2 must be located within two blocks of the parking space.
  • Residency requirements are lifted after Labor Day each academic year.
  • Permits for new customers will be mailed to customer’s home address on Monday, July 13, 2020.
  • There is a $10 charge for any type of permit replacement (lost, destroyed, stolen, etc.)

*Effective immediately, the City of Champaign is limiting public access to City facilities, including the Parking Programs Office.  Parking Programs is offering curbside permit pickup.

In order to purchase an Academic Year Permit on-street in Areas 1 or 2, you must show proof of residency in the University District Area with a lease for the school year.  Please refer to this document for details on the residency requirements for University District Areas 1 and 2.

After Labor Day, permits in Areas 1 and 2 do not require proof of residency.

There is no residency requirement in Areas 3 or 4.

Academic Year

You may purchase an Academic Year Permit online and the permit can be picked up using our curbside service.

Online Permit Sales

1.  Go to the Online Parking Services Page.
2.  Select Purchase Academic Permit and follow prompts.
3.  Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express are accepted.

Permits may be picked up using our curbside service. The Public Works / Parking office remains closed to the public for now.

Notes:  Permit rates are subject to change.  Permits are sold for the entire academic year and payment in full is required at the time of purchase.  Fall or spring semester-only permits are not offered; however, permits may be returned for a refund of the unused portion minus a 10 percent administrative fee.  Permits cannot be returned within 30 days of expiration. There is a $10 charge for any type of permit replacement (lost, destroyed, stolen, etc.).


Summer Parking Permits

Summer Permits expire the first Sunday in August.

  • Summer permits will be available in May of each year.
  • Summer permits have NO residency requirement and there is no Permit Request List requirement.
  • All on-street and parking lot spaces are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • There is a $10 charge for any type of permit replacement (lost, destroyed, stolen, etc.).

Summer parking permits will go on sale on in May.  You may purchase your summer permit by going online or you may come into the Public Works Department.

Online Permit Sales

2. Select Purchase Summer Permit and follow prompts.

4. Permits purchased online are available for pick up in the Parking Programs Office after Noon on the next business day.

Summer permits are $105 for any location.

Short-Term/Temporary Permits

  • Short-term/temporary permits are available for 1 to 30 days for parking in the residential area of the University District.
  • Spaces are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Permits are non-refundable and non-renewable.
  • Customers requiring permit parking in excess of 30 days should contact the Parking Programs Office to discuss parking options.

  • 1- to 4-day permit is $7.50 per day
  • 5- to 30-day permit is $35.00 flat rate

YOU MUST WAIT 30 CALENDAR DAYS AFTER YOUR TEMPORARY PERMIT EXPIRES TO PURCHASE ANOTHER TEMPORARY PERMIT.

Short-Term/Temporary Permits are sold from 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday through email by sending the appropriate form.

The following information is needed to obtain a permit and may be submitted in by email:

  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Completed application (see above)
  • Copy of valid, current vehicle registration card

YOU MUST WAIT 30 CALENDAR DAYS AFTER YOUR TEMPORARY PERMIT EXPIRES TO PURCHASE ANOTHER TEMPORARY PERMIT.
