Solid Waste Collection

Champaign City ordinance requires every household to sign up for weekly solid waste pick-up.  All solid waste collection in the City of Champaign is handled by private solid waste haulers. There are 8 commercial haulers that provide residential solid waste removal services in Champaign. Burning and the accumulation of garbage are prohibited in Champaign. Solid waste haulers can also be found in the yellow pages in the phone book under “Garbage & Rubbish Removal.” Materials can also be taken to the Solid Waste Transfer Station located at 915 W. Saline Dr. in Urbana. The transfer station’s phone number is 217.384.2274. There is a drop-off fee for all materials.
