The Champaign Fire Department is pleased to offer an opportunity for young people to experience the fire service as a possible career. The Exploring program is designed to allow young people the chance to receive training and interact with firefighters on the job. The program allows participants to get a comprehensive understanding of the fire service. The Exploring program is offered through Champaign Fire Department, but is a Boy Scouts of America program.

Champaign Fire Department is dedicated to this program and the youth who participate. It is an opportunity for the Fire Department to interact with the youth of this community. This program has been in place for a number of years and has been very successful. Currently there are over 100 former participants from this program who are employed as career firefighters.
