Elections
The City of Champaign is a non-partisan home rule community, with a Mayor and eight (8) City Council Members, each elected to serve for four (4) year terms.
The Mayor and three (3) Council Members are elected by all voters in the City of Champaign. The other five (5) Council Members are elected by voters in different parts of the City, called districts.
Elections are held every two years. In one election, the Mayor and three (3) Council Members are elected by everyone in the City. In the next election, the five (5) district Council Members are elected by voters in districts.
