Neighborhood Services Department Hosts IHDA Housing Stock Survey Training

The Neighborhood Services Department hosted a training for residents interested in volunteering for a sidewalk survey of housing conditions in select Champaign neighborhoods. This work is in partnership with the Illinois Housing Development Authority (IHDA). Kristopher Walton, a Community Revitalization Planner at IHDA, guided volunteers through the process of assessing housing conditions, such as roof, siding, and window repair needs.

Through this partnership with IHDA, NSD staff will have greater access to neighborhood-level data on home repair needs and affordable housing tax credit applications in the selected neighborhoods will receive extra points, increasing the likelihood of securing financing for affordable housing.

If you are interested in taking part in the housing stock survey, please reach out to Community Development Specialist Lauren Weber by email at [email protected].
