On September 8 -17, 2023, Welcoming Week is celebrated across the county! Here in Champaign County, the New American Welcome Center’s coordinated nearly 30 events for foreign and native born community members to come together and celebrate the diversity of our community. These events included music/dance performances, ally training, arts education, entrepreneurship, cultural festivals and many more! For far, these have been more than 1,200 participants in attendance!
On Saturday, September 16 from 2:00pm – 3:30pm at the Urbana Free Library, the CU Immigration Forum will be holding its 10th annual Immigrant Welcome Awards Ceremony recognizing the contributions of individuals and organizations that have created a welcoming atmosphere for immigrants in the Champaign-Urbana community. This is a can’t be missed event to hear about the work being done in our community.
