On September 8, 2023, Champaign County kicked off Welcoming Week in a big way! Mayor Deborah Frank Feinen and Mayor Diane Wolfe Marlin came together to read the Welcoming Week Joint Proclamation during the Kickoff Celebration. This proclamation continues to show both Cities’ commitment to the inclusion and flourishing of our foreign born community members.
This was the New American Welcome Center’s first Welcome Week Kickoff Event in partnership with the City of Champaign, City of Urbana, and dozens of local organizations. More than 250+ participants arrived to partake in food, music, crafts, dance, and get information from more than a dozen vendors providing resources. A big shout out to the Champaign Police Department, Champaign County Emergency Management, Champaign Public Library and all other City staff for coming to support this event!
