Garden Hills residents were invited to the Hedge POP! Park on August 4, 2022, to share their preferences for what should go into the design of a permanent park space at the future Garden Hills Drainage Basin. The area that will be set aside for permanent park space was staked off so residents could understand the size of the space. Residents could participate in a fun exercise to design their own park space based on their interests using magnets of various park amenities to stick on cookie sheets with a design of the park boundary on it. Popular items included basketball hoops, play equipment and climbing walls. Residents also had the opportunity to learn about the drainage basin project that is scheduled to start construction in July 2023. The Hedge POP! Park has been the site of consistent programming and engagement between City staff and residents twice a week throughout the summer.
