On August 4, 2022, the Neighborhood Services Department hosted a neighborhood-based CommYOUnity block party at the Champaign Park Apartments. Employees from the Equity and Engagement Department also assisted with the event. More than 100 neighbors enjoyed an evening of food, fun, and games, as well as music provided by DJ Silkee. Resource and information vendors included representatives from the Community Violence Response Team, the Trauma and Resilience Initiative, DREAAM, Courage Connection, and the Housing Authority of Champaign County’s YouthBuild Program.
CommYOUnity events provide a family-friendly atmosphere, support community engagement, and promote goodwill throughout the community. Two more events are scheduled for this month. Both are free and open to the public:

- CommYOUnity Information and Organizing Fair – Eisner Park – 1301 W Church St. – August 18, 2022 – 6-8 pm
