Neighborhood Service Coordination Staff collaborated with the Champaign Park District to host the Country Brook Block Party on Thursday, May 26. The event was the first of a series of neighborhood block parties in underserved areas of the City. Party planning efforts were undertaken in partnership with the park district. Approximately, 200 Country Brook neighbors and residents were treated to live musical performances by students in the CUperStars program, an interactive DJ, face painting, inflatables, and food provided by Neighborhood Services staff and volunteers. Funding for this event was provided by a Neighborhood Small Grant allocation. Block parties will be held on the fourth Thursday of each month through August from 5 pm to 7 pm at locations throughout the community. The next Block Party will occur on June 26 in the Garden Hills neighborhood.
