The Champaign Police Department continues to ask for the public’s assistance in the homicide investigation of 35-year-old Arnold F. Hopkins of Champaign. On Oct. 14, 2018, at approximately 1:30 a.m., Hopkins was found inside a private residence in the 2600 block of Lawndale Drive with a fatal gunshot wound.
Police are now urging anyone who drove, walked or biked through Westfield and/or Lawndale Drive between 1-1:30 a.m. on the morning of the shooting (Oct. 14, 2018) to contact police. A passerby may unknowingly have information to assist in the investigation.
Three days ago, the department requested residents who have exterior home camera surveillance systems near the area of Centennial and Sangamon Drive to come forward. Police are continuing to ask for those surveillance system feeds. It is believed video footage between the hours of midnight-3 a.m. may be of investigative assistance.

Champaign Police reminds citizens that information submitted to Crime Stoppers is completely anonymous.
