Upcoming Temporary Road Closures Related to Race Weekend

The City of Champaign is informing our residents, businesses, and visitors of upcoming temporary road closures to accommodate the Christie Clinic Illinois Marathon Race Weekend.

 In order to facilitate Christie Clinic Illinois Race Weekend activities, numerous temporary road closures will occur. These closures will occur in stages beginning Thursday, April 23 and go through Saturday, April 25, 2026. Basic information is below; detailed information can be found at the links.

  • Thursday, April 23 – Green Street Mile – 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. First Street between Kirby Avenue and Green Street; Green Street between First Street and Neil Street, closed prior to and during race.
  • Friday, April 24 – 4th Mile/27th Mile – 1:00 p.m. Kirby Avenue between First Street and Fourth Street, closed for the duration of the weekend’s events.
  • Friday, April 24 – 5K – 5:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. Oak Street, Gregory Drive, First Street, Green Street, Sixth Street, closed prior to and during race.
  • Saturday, April 25 – Marathon, Half-Marathon, 10K – Various streets in Champaign, Urbana, and Savoy between 4:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., closed prior to and during race.

This website includes weekend event schedule, race route maps and tips to help motorists traveling around the course, parking restrictions, and course impact times. Public Safety personnel and volunteers will be on hand in numerous locations to pulse vehicles through as participant spacing allows. As various stages of the races end and runners clear, race organizers will release streets to be opened.
