City of Champaign Participates in 15th Annual CU Pride Fest Parade and Fair

The City of Champaign was proud to take part in the 15th Annual CU Pride Fest, organized by Uniting Pride and held October 16-26.  This year’s milestone celebration brought together community members from across the region for a week of events promoting unity, visibility, and inclusion.

City Pride Fest Parade FloatIn preparation for the parade, City staff came together to build and decorate the parade float.  Their teamwork and creativity paid off on Saturday, October 25, when Council Members, City staff, and community members proudly walked alongside the float in the Pride Parade through Downtown Urbana. The City’s entry was recognized with the Best Overall in Show award, celebrating the dedication and spirit of everyone involved.

During the Pride Fest Fair, the Equity and Engagement Department hosted an information booth where staff connected with hundreds of attendees, shared community resources, distributed giveaways, and highlighted the City’s ongoing commitment to inclusion and equity.  Pride Fest continues to serve as a vibrant reminder of the power of the community, creativity, and connection.
