The Champaign Fire Department responded to a fire in a residence in the 1200 block of Joanne Ln., Monday, December 9, at 5:11 a.m. Fire crews were able to quickly get the fire under control.
Firefighters responded to a report from an occupant of a fire in the single-family home. Once on the scene, crews reported moderate smoke coming from the attic of the single-story building. Firefighters deployed a single hose line into the residence and were able to extinguish the fire.
The cause of this fire has not been determined as investigators remain on scene conducting their investigation. There were no firefighter or occupant injuries reported.
Remember, when the smoke alarm sounds, get out and stay out. If you must escape through smoke, stay low to the ground. Try to close doors behind you as you leave, to help slow the spread of smoke and fire, and help others exit.
