Champaign Fire Canvassing Two Neighborhoods After Recent Fires

On Thursday, April 18, 2024, the Champaign Fire Department will be canvassing two neighborhoods that have recently suffered fires, testing smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, and installing new alarms in homes that need them.

From 9:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m., firefighters will be going door-to-door in the 1300 block of Joanne Ln. making sure homes have working smoke and carbon monoxide alarms and sharing fire safety information with residents. From 2:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m., firefighters will again be canvassing in the 4800 block of W. Windsor Rd., New Century Estates.

The Champaign Fire Department would like to remind everyone that working smoke alarms cut the risk of dying in a home fire in half. If you, or someone you know, is a resident of Champaign and needs a smoke or carbon monoxide alarm or would like to schedule a home safety visit from the Fire Department, call the main fire station at 217-403-7200.
