Resistance in Resilience : Intertwining Our Roots Standing Our Ground

On  February 24, 2024, Eric Toga from the Equity and Engagement Department attended the University of Illinois’ annual Black & Latinx Summit  “Resistance in Resilience : Intertwining Our Roots Standing Our Ground”. This was an all day event held from 9:30am to 6:30pm at The I-Hotel and Conference Center. The summit discussed the challenges students and communities of color face in the United State from historical and contemporarily prospective. There were over 300 hundred attendees,  most comprised of UIUC students. The conference boasted a variety of guess speakers, organizations and partners.  City staff attended to learn about the methodology through which Resiliency and Resistance was applied by individuals and the communities to overcome issues they faced while attending school.
