LIFT Black History Month Annual Program

On February 26, 2024, Deputy City Manager, Joan Walls and Equity and Engagement Department  staff, Rachel Joy and Tracy Parsons, attended the LIFT annual Black history month event held at Neil St. Blues. The event was an opportunity for families and students to review historical facts with a focus on the Harlem Renaissance, engage with fun trivia and provide feedback to LIFT staff on services. This was also used as an opportunity for LIFT staff to provide information on upcoming programming for 2024. A highlight of the evening included students in LIFT reciting the inspiring poem, “Hey, Black Child”, written by Useni Eugene Perkins. Click here to view the full poem! Families enjoyed a great meal provided by Neil St. Blues and participants received incentives for participation. For more information about LIFT please click here.
