Apartment Fire – 1210 Providence Circle

The Champaign Fire Department responded to a fire inside an apartment at 1210 Providence Circle, Saturday, October 28 at 4:47 p.m. Fire crews extinguished the remaining hot spots in this sprinkler controlled fire.

Firefighters responded to a report of a fire in this two-story apartment building. Once on the scene, firefighters found nothing showing from the outside and went inside to investigate. Crews found a fire in a second floor bedroom that had been kept under control by the sprinkler system. Firefighters extinguished the remaining hot spots with a fire extinguisher.

The cause of this fire is not yet known as investigators remain on the scene conducting their investigation. There were no firefighter or occupant injuries reported.

The Champaign Fire Department reminds everyone to maintain a working smoke alarm in their place of residence and to have and practice a home escape plan. Smoke alarms can provide early notification when seconds count.
