STORM DAMAGE RESIDENTIAL TREE LIMB AND BRUSH COLLECTION

STORM DAMAGE RESIDENTIAL TREE LIMB AND BRUSH COLLECTION

There was widespread tree devastation in Champaign due to a major storm on Thursday, June 29, 2023. The City of Champaign will offer short-term, storm damaged tree limb and brush pickup from private properties to assist residents in recovery efforts. Pickup dates will be announced early next week, but will not occur prior to Monday, July 10, due to Public Work’s need to focus on tree hazards in the right of way.

Residents may prepare tree limbs for pickup using these guidelines:

  • Twigs and branches may be bundled with non-metallic twine or placed in paper yard waste bags.
    • There may be size restrictions on branches that require them to be cut down for ease in pickup and transportation. Those will be part of the details in the date announcement.
  • Materials must be in 30-gallon paper yard waste bags.  NO PLASTIC BAGS OR CONTAINERS.
  • Materials should be placed within 10 feet of the curbside, and 10 feet away from obstacles like mailboxes, trees, telephone poles, and fire hydrants.
  • If materials are placed too close to obstacles, the materials will be left.
  • Only bags containing leaves, grass clippings, and plant materials will be collected. No construction nor home damaged materials will be collected. Bags with any other materials, such as rocks, glass, potted plants, mulch, or pet waste will not be collected.
