City Staff Attends Annual National Community Development Association Conference

City-Staff-Attends-Annual-National-Community-Development-Association-ConferenceCommunity Development Specialists Betsy Barclay and Shelby Mammano of the Neighborhood Services Department attended the Annual National Community Development Association (NCDA) Conference in June. Each year, the NCDA hosts a conference for agencies that receive federal funds for community development activities.

The NCDA Conference provides attendees with the opportunity to attend a variety of sessions. Presentations are given by the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development staff on important information and any changes to the HUD rules and regulations. Sessions are also led by NCDA members who offer information on best practices and support for managing various federally funded community development programs and projects.

In addition to the sessions, conference attendees participate in a tour given by the host city of recent successful community development projects and regional caucus meetings. They are given ample opportunity to network and share ideas with other NCDA member jurisdictions.

This year, City staff attended a preconference training session about effectively running a housing rehabilitation program using Community Development Block Grant funds awarded by HUD.
