On May 27, 2023 the Fire Department hosted an open house and ceremonial “Push-In” of the new fire engine at Fire Station 4. Those able to attend also saw the Department’s fire sprinkler trailer in action, heard fire prevention and safety messaging, and had the opportunity to touch-a-truck and meet a firefighter.
The “Push-In” dates back to the horse-drawn fire engine steamer days when the horses and the steamer engine would return to the fire station after going to a fire. The horses would be disconnected from the steamer and the firefighters and neighbors would wipe the engine down and help push the steamer engine back into the fire station
