The Champaign Fire Department responded to a fire inside a 12-unit apartment building at 206 Kenwood Rd., December 13, at 11:29 a.m. Fire crews quickly extinguished the fire inside this multi-family apartment building.
Firefighters responded to a report from a passerby of a fire in this three-story building. Once on the scene, firefighters reported smoke and fire coming from a third-floor apartment. Fire crews deployed multiple hose lines and quickly upgraded the fire to a second alarm. Firefighters were able to contain the fire primarily to a third-floor unit.
The cause of this fire has not been determined as investigators remain on the scene conducting their investigation. No firefighter or occupant injuries were reported. The occupants will be displaced because of this fire.
