On the evening of September 18 overnight into September 19, 2022, Champaign received approximately 3-inches of rain in a very short amount of time. This caused a lot of leaves and debris to accumulate on city streets. Immediately following the storm, Public Works’ crews got to work on cleanup. The sewer crew worked extensively on cleaning the creek channel grates as well as inlets. The forestry crew worked on clean up of downed limbs and trees. And the streets section conducted street sweeping with three street sweepers and dump truck support. As of September 29, the City’s street sweeping crews had covered all the streets shown in this map image.
