On October 25, 2014, at approximately 2:14 a.m., the Champaign Police were dispatched to the 900 block of W. Bradley Avenue. Officers responding to the area located 35-year-old Yojevol D. Sturkey, who was found lying unresponsive on the ground. He was transported by ambulance to Carle Foundation Hospital with life-threatening injuries and later succumbed to his injuries.
On February 23, 2022, the Champaign County State’s Attorney’s Office charged Darrion Miles, 32, of Urbana with First Degree Murder in relation to this incident. Miles is presently in custody at the Kankakee County Detention Center on unrelated charges.
