Residential Fire – 903 S. Duncan Rd.

The Champaign Fire Department responded to a fire in a bedroom at 903 S. Duncan Rd., Wednesday, December 1, at 3:32 a.m. Fire crews quickly extinguished the fire in this single-family home.

Firefighters responded to a report of a fire at this one-story residence called in by the occupants. Occupants of the home were alerted to the fire by a working smoke alarm near the bedroom. Once on the scene, fire crews reported a fire in the bedroom of the home. Firefighters deployed multiple hose lines and extinguished the fire.

The cause of this fire was accidental and was attributed to improperly disposed smoking materials. There were no firefighter or occupant injuries reported. The occupants will be displaced as a result of the damage.

The Champaign Fire Department reminds everyone to maintain a working smoke alarm in their place of residence and to have and practice a home escape plan. Smoke alarms can provide early notification when seconds count.
