In March 2020, the City worked directly with Downtown businesses to lessen the impacts to business due to the statewide closure of indoor dining and other COVID-related restrictions. This included the closure of some Downtown side streets and parking spaces in order to allow businesses to provide expanded outdoor dining options for customers. The City remains committed to assisting our businesses and helping them survive as we slowly emerge from the restrictions put in place during the pandemic and business levels slowly return to normal. On October 15, 2021, outdoor dining on Market Street wrapped up and the street and the parking spaces on Chester Street near the Esquire Lounge reopened to traffic. The City thanks the public for its patience and understanding as we all worked together to implement temporary solutions to ensure our valued local businesses could remain open and survive.
