Shooting Investigation – 30 block of East Main Street

On June 5, 2021, at approximately 2:28 a.m., Champaign Police were in the vicinity of the 30 block of East Main Street when officers heard a series of gun shots. Officers proceeded to the south alley of the 30 block of East Main Street and located a 20-year-old male suffering from three non-life-threatening gunshot wounds in his left arm and left hip. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he has undergone surgery.

The preliminary investigation indicates the victim was in the alley when a large fight occurred. An unidentified person fired shots in the direction of the victim, striking him three times. There is limited information surrounding a description or identity of the suspect.

No arrests have been made at this time and the investigation is ongoing. Future updates may be provided as they become available.
