City of Champaign Repeals Two Emergency Orders as State Moves Into the Bridge Phase

Today, Mayor Deborah Frank Feinen amended two Emergency Orders which allow for the safe return to pre-pandemic activities as the State of Illinois moves into the Bridge to Phase 5 of the Restore Illinois Plan.

Effective at 5:00 p.m. today, Emergency Order 20-17 Amendment 3 allows the City to resume the issuance of special event permits. The amendment terminates Emergency Order 20-17. Special event permit applications are available through the City’s website at champaignil.gov/police/department-services/special-event-application/

Also effective at 5:00 p.m. today, Emergency Order 20-26 Amendment 2 lifts the City’s requirement for individuals to wear face coverings when around others in public. The amendment terminates Emergency Order 20-26. Residents are asked to continue to follow CDC and public health guidance concerning the appropriate use of face coverings in certain settings.
