Residential Electronics Collection Event – Fall Wrap-up
The fall Residential Electronics Collection Event was held on Friday, October 9 and Saturday, October 10, 2020 at Parkland College. The event is co-sponsored by City of Champaign, City of Urbana, Village of Savoy, and Champaign County. Out of the 2,118 that pre-registered via our online registration system, approximately 1,780 registrants participated.
Registrants could bring a total of seven electronic items, with a four TV limit. A total of 192,700 pounds (96.35 tons) of unwanted electronic items were collected at the fall event. TVs collected represented 72 percent of the total electronics collected.
These collection events are a no-cost opportunity for residents to get rid of unwanted TVs of all shapes and sizes. There are local year-round recycling options for most other electronics and certain types/sizes of TVs. Visit the City’s recycling webpage for more information: champaignil.gov/recycling.
The spring collection event will be held on Saturday, May 22, 2021, and residents can start registering for that event on Monday, April 12, 2021. The online registration website is ecycle.simplybook.me. Full event details can be found on the registration website.
