On Sept. 26, 2020, at approximately 12:43 a.m., Champaign Police responded to the 1600 block of Sheffield Road for reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a 39-year-old male with a single gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The victim’s injuries are not currently believed to be life threatening.
The preliminary investigation suggests unknown subjects fired shots into an occupied residence and struck the victim while he was lying in bed. The investigation is ongoing, and no arrests have been made at this time. Future updates may be provided as they become available.
Any resident or business in the nearby areas with exterior surveillance camera systems is encouraged to contact the police department. It is believed video footage may be of investigative assistance.

Crime Stoppers will pay a reward of $1,000 for information leading to the arrest of the person(s) responsible for these crimes.
