Containers full of old televisions to be recycledThe next Residential Electronics Collection Event will take place at Parkland College in Champaign over two days: Friday, October 9, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., and Saturday, October 10, 2020 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, necessary safety precautions will be in place. Additional details will be made available closer to the event.

As in the past, residents must pre-register for this event. Online registration opens at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 1. Residents will be able to select from any available 15-minute time slot and will receive a confirmation email and/or text after registering.

This recycling event is available to residents of City of Champaign, as well as to residents residing in other participating communities (check the registration website for more details). Participants may bring up to seven items to recycle, including up to four TVs. The full list of items accepted is available on the registration website. Once registered, participants will receive a color-coded postcard about a week before the fall recycling event. The postcard will serve as their “ticket” to enter the event.

Residents are reminded that with the exception of tube-style TVs, there are other local (free) options available to recycle most electronics year-round. Visit the City’s website or the registration website for more information about those options.
