On Jan. 22, 2020, at approximately 4:46 p.m., Champaign Police Officers responded to the First Mid Bank and Trust located at 2911 Crossing Court for reports of a bank robbery. Upon arrival, officers learned a suspect entered the bank, displayed a handgun, jumped the counter and demanded money. The suspect fled the bank with an undisclosed amount of currency. No injuries have been reported to Champaign Police and there is currently no evidence the gun was discharged during the commission of the robbery.

The Champaign Police Department is currently interviewing witnesses from the bank and immediate area for more information. If any resident or business in the nearby area has exterior surveillance camera systems, please contact the police department. It is believed video footage may be of investigative assistance.

The suspect is believed to be a male and approximately 5 feet 4 inches tall with a thin build. The suspect was seen wearing light blue jeans, a green and blue colored hooded sweatshirt, gloves, tan boots and a skeleton face mask.
