On Aug. 13, 2019, at approximately 10:16 p.m., Champaign Police were called to the 700 block of Crescent Drive for a report of gunshots heard. Upon arrival, officers found an injured, responsive 25-year-old male inside a residence suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. Paramedics responded and transported the victim to a local hospital.
The preliminary investigation revealed the victim, who was seated inside the residence, was struck once by gunfire from outside the apartment. Multiple shell casings were located outside by officers and at least two apartments were struck.
There is currently no available suspect information and no arrests have been made at this time. If any resident or business in the nearby area has exterior surveillance camera systems, please contact the police department. It is believed video footage may be of investigative assistance.
