Champaign Police Conducting Death Investigation

This morning, at approximately 6:56 a.m., Champaign Police were dispatched to an apartment complex in the 300 block of South State Street in reference to an unresponsive subject. Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive male near a parking lot where paramedics confirmed the subject was deceased.

Police are canvassing the area attempting to locate anyone who may be able to provide information to assist with the investigation and ask if any resident in the nearby area has exterior home surveillance camera systems to please contact the police department.

The circumstances and exact time of death are currently unknown. The incident remains under investigation by the Champaign Police Department.

The identity of the victim as well as the cause of death may be released by the Champaign County Coroner’s Office.
