The Neighborhood Services Department Coordination Division held the first biannual Neighborhood Leaders Forum on Saturday May 18, at Parkland College. The forum was attended by 13 group leaders and two members of the Neighborhood Services Advisory, who also represent both an active group and one that is working to organize. The Forum was designed to inform neighborhood leaders about Neighborhood Coordination program updates and provide a networking and engagement opportunity for both leaders and members of the City’s 55 registered groups. Staff provided a presentation on technical assistance, Coordination program and service updates, and training resources available to registered groups.
Additionally, Karen Simms of Meridian K Consulting and Coaching Service provided a presentation on Trauma Informed Communities and Neighborhood Resiliency. The forum ended with a lunch that provided an opportunity for the newly introduced leaders to share both a meal and networking conversation. The next Neighborhood Leaders Forum is scheduled for Saturday, September 7.
