South Prospect Ave. Reconstruction

South Prospect Avenue Reconstruction
(Windsor Road to Curtis Road)

On Monday, March 25, construction will begin on South Prospect Avenue from Windsor Road to Curtis Road. Planned improvements include upgrading the corridor to arterial street standards with three lanes of pavement, curb and gutter, storm sewers, street lighting, on-street bike lanes, and improvements to the adjacent sidewalk and multi-use path. The project is located both within the City of Champaign and the Village of Savoy. The work will be completed under a series of phased complete closures, in order to maintain access to the side streets in the neighborhood.

Please see below for specifics on closures as part of this first phase.

  • Prospect Avenue at Windsor Road – closed to through traffic, open to local traffic to Kent Court only. Access to/from Kent Court will be maintained in the easternmost lane of Prospect Avenue between Windsor Road and Kent Court.
  • Prospect Avenue at Kent Drive – closed to traffic. Access to/from Kent Dr., Nottingham St., Nottingham Ct. (north and south), and Barclay Ct. will be from Park Lane Dr only.
  • Prospect Avenue at Bloomfield Court – closed to through traffic. Access to/from Bloomfield Court will be from the south only.
  • Prospect Avenue at Burwash Avenue – Burwash will be closed at Prospect Avenue to the east 350 feet. Access to Burwash Avenue will be from the north (Lyndhurst), east (Rt. 45), or south (Wesley Ave., Regency Dr., Quail Run Rd).

The City of Champaign and Village of Savoy appreciate the cooperation of travelers in the area and encourages caution when traveling in proximity to a work zone.
