Today, at approximately 1:17 p.m., Champaign Police responded to the 900 block of North 3rd Street for a report of shots fired. Responding officers located a male victim inside a car in the 1100 block of North 4th Street suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The preliminary investigation reveals the victim was shot on the northside of Wesley Park, and those responsible for the shooting fled the scene on foot. Although the investigation remains in its early stages, the shooting is not believed to be random.
The investigation into this incident remains ongoing and police ask anyone who may have information or who was in the area at the time of the shooting to contact police at 217-351-4545.
