Police Investigate Shooting in the 400 Block of E. Vine Street

On Oct. 24, 2018, at approximately 10:02 p.m., Champaign Police responded to the 400 Block of E Vine St. after receiving reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, police discovered a 12-year-old female inside a private residence who had sustained a minor injury to her leg. She was treated at an area hospital.

The preliminary investigation revealed an unknown subject(s) fired multiple rounds into a private residence and then fled the scene in a vehicle. Police are processing evidence and are working to confirm a description of both the suspect and the suspect vehicle involved in this incident. While the investigation remains in its early stages, this is not believed to be a random act of violence.

Crime Stoppers will pay a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest of the person(s) responsible for this crime.
