Residents Reminded to Inspect Utility Service Connections for Potential Hazards

While completing a tenant inspection, Property Maintenance Inspector Cliff Peete observed a tree growing and applying pressure against the copper gas supply line leading into the residential structure. Peete immediately contacted Ameren Illinois and a technician arrived who cut and removed the tree. The technician also evaluated the meter, found a gas leak, and replaced the meter. Based on Peete’s observation and quick referral, a potential life-safety hazard was eliminated.

All residents are encouraged to make a visual inspection of the utility connections for any property they occupy in order to identify potential hazards. If an issue is observed, contact the appropriate utility company immediately.
