2017-2018 Fire and Police Promotional Testing Process Gets Underway

In collaboration with the Fire and Police departments, Human Resources is diligently working to coordinate, communicate and assist with the facilitation of the Promotional Testing processes.  Below is a glimpse of each process.

FIRE LIEUTENANT and ENGINEER PROMOTIONAL PROCESSES
The Fire Lieutenant Promotional Testing Process recently concluded the Assessment Center (AC) phase of the process on March 27 & 28, 2017.  Twenty-three fire engineer candidates completed the AC exams which included multiple simulation exercises.
The next phase of the Fire Lieutenant Promotional Testing Process is the written exam scheduled for May 13, 2017.

The Fire Engineer Promotional Testing Process will begin the first stage of the process in August, 2017.

TRAINING BATTALION CHIEF
Training Battalion Chief is a new rank within the Fire department. The FY2016-2017 was a shortened promotional process that consisted of scored Chief Interviews.  Five (5) Fire Captains completed this process. Congratulations to Gary Gula who was promoted to Training Battalion Chief on March 20, 2017.

FIRE BATTALION CHIEF
The promotional testing process for the FY 2016-2017 Fire Battalion Chief is in the beginning stages.  The Assessment Center is scheduled for June 2, 2017, followed by scored Chief interviews.

POLICE LIEUTENANT and SERGEANT PROMOTIONAL PROCESSES
Seven (7) Police Sergeants have declared an initial intent to test for Police Lieutenant Promotional Process.  An orientation discussing the process was held on April 3, 2017. The next stage of the process is an approximate 2.5 hour written exam scheduled for May 24, 2017, followed by an Assessment Center in early June, 2017.

The first stage of the Police Sergeant Promotional Testing will begin in October 2017.
