The eighth annual STAR Awards will be held on April 27 at 7:00 pm at the Hilton Garden Inn (1501 S. Neil St., Champaign). This event is free and open to the public. 
This event was created to promote and recognize exemplary civic engagement efforts and initiatives across the city. It is hosted by the City’s Neighborhood Services Department, in partnership with Busey Bank and WCIA-TV. WCIA’s Anthony Antoine will emcee this year’s event.
During the public nomination period, the City received a wide range of nominations in eight categories. The nominations were reviewed by the Neighborhood Services Advisory Board, who selected a distinguished honoree for each category. During the April 27 ceremony, each STAR nominee will be recognized and the distinguished honorees will be announced.
The night kicks off with a meet and greet reception at 6:00 pm. Elected officials, City staff, STAR nominees, neighborhood leaders, and the public are all invited to attend.
