Christmas Tree Collection and Recycling
The City of Champaign offers two convenient options to recycle your Christmas tree this month.
Curbside Collection: Trees will be collected in the Blue Zones on January 9 and in the Orange Zones on January 11. To enjoy this free service, residents simply place their tree within four feet of the curb before 6:00 a.m. on their scheduled pickup day. Collected trees are chipped and made into garden mulch. Trees with stands, decorations, tinsel, lights, artificial snow-frost, plastic bags, or any other material that makes the tree non-recyclable will not be collected.
Drop Off Site: Trees may also be taken to the Landscape Recycling Center at 1210 E. University Avenue in Urbana at no cost during the month of January. Call 217-344-5323 for hours and details.
