Dead Elm Tree Removed – 808 W. Charles

On September 27, Inspector Kim Burnett followed up on a complaint at 808 W. Charles. The complaint involved an elm tree in a backyard that was dropping limbs and there was concern that the tree was going to fall. Burnett found that the tree was dead and requested that Forestry Supervisor Andrew Lamoreux assess the situation. Andrew quickly responded and indicated that the tree was dead. In addition, a significant cavity was found in the base of tree. That, coupled with the amount of crown on dieback and deadwood, made the tree hazardous. Burnett issued notice to the owner giving 30 days for removal of the tree.  The owner contacted Burnett requesting the opportunity to get a second opinion, and the request was granted On November 21, Burnett reinspected property and noted that the tree had been removed.
