Champaign Police Seek Suspect in Shooting Incident

On May 23, 2015 at approximately 7:11PM, Champaign Police responded to a residence in the 1300 block of Hedge Road for a reported shooting.

Upon arrival, officers located a male victim that had sustained multiple gun shot wounds. The victim was transported to Carle Hospital where he remains in serious condition. As a result of the ongoing investigation, Champaign Police Detectives identified Diego R. Christmon as a suspect in this incident.

On Sunday, May 24, 2015, Champaign Police Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Diego R. Christmon, a 25-year-old male from Champaign for the offense of Aggravated Battery with a Firearm, a Class X Felony. Bond on the warrant is set at $2,000,000.

The Champaign Police Department asks that anyone with information relating to the incident, or the whereabouts of Diego R. Christmon to contact the Champaign Police Department Investigations Division at 217-351-4545.
