As of December 2014, an average of 3.6 foreclosures were filed per month. RealtyTrac states one in every 663 Illinois housing units received a foreclosure filing in December of 2014. Champaign County is considered low risk on their indicator chart as one in every 3,588 housing units received a foreclosure notice in December. Across the US foreclosure filings were down 18 percent from 2013, and 2014 had the lowest annual total of filings since 2006. The numbers for the City of Champaign are following the national trend, with filings down 27% from 2013. Staff will continue to monitor City of Champaign filings to assess the impact on the community.
