The Champaign Police Department hosted its third annual Open House for the community on May 17, 2014 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event was held during National Police Week (May 11-17, 2014), an event recognizing the service and sacrifice of U.S. law enforcement.
The event provided an opportunity for the public to have fun, meet the Police Chief and staff, and learn more about the police department.
There were tours of the police department conducted by employees and retired CPD officers, presentations and demonstrations by the EOD Unit, SWAT Team, K9 Unit, Hostage Negotiations Team, and Crime Scene Technicians. There was also an historical display and activities for the whole family.
